joni Launches BLEED: A Groundbreaking Anthology of Real Period Stories

Victoria – May 25th, 2025 – This Menstrual Hygiene Day, joni, Canada’s leading period care brand known for its commitment to sustainability and menstrual equity, is proud to announce the launch of BLEED – an anthology of real period stories written to be shared. This powerful collection features honest and deeply human stories that challenge the stigma surrounding menstruation and celebrates the diversity of period experiences.

Curated by joni and written by people of all ages, backgrounds, and gender identities in North America, BLEED invites readers into an unfiltered conversation about something half the world experiences but rarely discuses. From awkward first periods to navigating menstruation through illness, culture, gender and activism, each story is a bold act of sharing.

“Periods are still shrouded in shame and silence,” says Linda Biggs, Co-Founder and CEO of joni. “With BLEED, we are bringing our often overlooked stories into the light. Storytelling is powerful. By bringing conversations about menstruation into unconventional spaces, we move closer to menstrual equity.”

BLEED is more than a book—it’s part of joni’s ongoing mission to normalize talking about menstruation, expand access to menstrual care, and show what’s possible when menstrual equity becomes the norm. All profits from book sales will support joni’s 5% giveback model, which funds free period products for communities in need across Canada. To-date joni has donated over 900,000 products to non-profit partners such as Moon Time Connections, The Period Purse, Project Aim and the United Way.

Key Highlights:

  • Features real stories from contributors across North America
  • Forewords by Food Banks Canada, The Period Purse, Moon Time Connections and the founder of the Period Poverty Campaign in BC, Nikki Hill
  • All profits go toward menstrual equity initiatives through joni’s community partners
  • Launch events include virtual readings, panel discussions, and community storytelling sessions

BLEED is available starting May 28th on Amazon and Ingram Sparks, in both print and digital formats.
