What does it take to move a promising women’s health innovation from concept to clinical care?
That question was at the centre of Femtech Canada’s May roundtable with the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC). Joined by SOGC CEO Dr. Diane Francoeur, Chief Scientific Officer Jocelynn Cook, and Director of Business Development Munish Mohan, members explored how the newly announced partnership will create new opportunities for women’s health innovators to access clinical expertise, research support, and pathways to validation.
For many founders, one of the biggest challenges is understanding where the greatest needs exist and building the evidence and connections required to bring innovations into healthcare systems. Throughout the discussion, SOGC leaders highlighted the role they play in helping companies navigate that journey.
Dr. Francoeur encouraged innovators to focus on unmet clinical needs, noting that one of SOGC’s greatest strengths is helping companies identify where opportunities exist and connecting them with the expertise needed to develop meaningful solutions.
Representing more than 3,200 obstetricians, gynecologists, family physicians, nurse practitioners, midwives, and researchers across Canada, SOGC offers innovators access to a national network with deep clinical expertise and insight into the challenges facing women’s health today. Through this partnership, companies will have new opportunities to identify unmet needs, strengthen evidence generation, and connect with the clinical community earlier in their innovation journey.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to accelerating women’s health innovation while ensuring solutions are grounded in evidence, clinical expertise, and real-world healthcare needs.
New Opportunities for Femtech Canada Companies
Through this partnership, Femtech Canada companies will gain access to two new opportunities to engage with SOGC’s network:
- SOGC Brand Recognition Program: a streamlined pathway to access SOGC’s expertise in evaluating evidence, reviewing risk considerations, and assessing the potential value of products and services for women. As Dr. Francoeur explained, SOGC’s approach is grounded in science, evidence review, and knowledge translation, helping ensure innovations are safe, effective, and aligned with patient needs.
- Clinical Innovation Think Tank: support for companies seeking access to clinicians, researchers, and advisors who can help strengthen product development, clinical studies, and commercialization efforts. For founders navigating regulatory pathways, evidence generation, or clinical validation, these connections can play a key role in accelerating growth and adoption.
As Munish Mohan, SOGC’s Director of Business Development, encouraged participants:

How to Get Involved
To help identify company needs and match innovators with the most appropriate supports, Femtech Canada launched an intake process for members interested in exploring opportunities through the partnership. The application will help assess where companies are in their development journey and identify potential pathways for engagement, whether through brand recognition, clinical connections, research collaborations, or advisory support.
As the partnership continues to evolve, both organizations see this as the beginning of a broader effort to strengthen the connection between innovation and clinical care in Canada.
